The short version

Staging is most useful when it makes the listing easier to understand.

Home staging is often reduced to a broad claim about selling faster or for more. The more useful evidence is specific: what buyers' agents see, which spaces carry the most weight, and where seller-side agents observe a difference. The statistics below come from the National Association of REALTORS' 2025 Profile of Home Staging.

2025 facts

10 home staging statistics to know.

83%

of buyers' agents said staging helps buyers picture a home as their future home.

This is the clearest signal in the report: a furnished space can help a buyer understand how a property could live, not just how large it is.

86%

of buyers' agents said staging affects at least some buyers' view of a home.

Sixty percent said it affects some buyers, while 26% said it affects most buyers. Twelve percent said it has no effect on buyers' views.

This is an observed survey result, not a promise of a particular price outcome for every property.

How to read the numbers

Useful signals, not a formula for every listing.

The 2025 findings reflect the experience of real estate professionals, rather than a controlled experiment that can isolate staging from pricing, condition, photography, location, or market timing. That matters. A staged home is not guaranteed a certain price lift or number of days saved.

What the figures do show is where presentation has the most practical role: helping buyers imagine the property, giving listing photography a clearer story, and putting the living room, primary bedroom, kitchen, and dining room to work. The right staging plan should follow the property and the buyer it needs to reach.
